ANGELES CITY—This city’s proposed sports complex in barangay Mining will soon be redesigned with the approval of the Sangguniang Panlunsod resolution authorizing Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan to negotiate and amend the P812-million term loan inked between former Mayor Francis Nepomuceno, representing the city government and the Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB).
It will be recalled that the loaned amount forged August 13, 2009 by Nepomuceno and the PVB was intended solely for the construction of the Angeles Sports Coliseum in the said barangay.
Although the said agreement was opposed by private sector as well as other city councilors, the said project was inaugurated.
In the City Council’s approved resolution sponsored by councilors Willie Rivera, Edu Pamintuan, Jesus Sangil and Alexander Indiongco, the mayor was given authority to negotiate the said project and to modify it to a much beneficial project.
Pamintuan who have been very vocal on the said project reiterated that part of the said loan should be allotted for the construction of the
“Sports complex is untimely, what the people needs now is a hospital with updated facilities and experienced doctors, quality education for our students.” Pamintuan said in one of his interviews.
The resolution states that the mayor is given authority to amend and negotiate the Term Loan Agreement of the City Government with the PVB from financing the construction and design of the Angeles City Sports Coliseum to a new facility for the
Further, the resolution stated that the funding for the amendments shall not exceed to P600 million and that the executed amended agreements shall be submitted to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for ratification.
It is not fresh to the public that Pamintuan has been very vocal about the reconstruction of the public hospital even during his electoral campaign. “I want to see the city hospital equipped with dialysis machines,” the city mayor said.
One of the main problems of the city that the mayor inherited is inadequate health care. Pamintuan wants to start creating a better health care service by providing a capable facility to accommodate the public.

“Thank God nobody from the council rejected the resolution, only a few minor amendments were made,” Councilor Pamintuan said.
The younger Pamintuan managed to attend the council’s session despite being sick for the past days.
