CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The San Fernando Elementary School here launched July 29 a supplemental feeding program in line with the city’s advocacy of producing competent and well-rounded Fernandino children.
This is in coordination with the City Health Office wherein around 50 underweight and undernourished pupils were identified as beneficiaries of the program.
This is also part of the observance of the nutrition month.
Mayor Oscar S. Rodriguez, as the guest speaker, said that health programs are the priority project of his administration next to education.
He emphasized that for a “pupil to excel in one’s class, one must not only have sound mind but sound body as well”.
Thus, various programs are being launched aside from the supplemental feeding programs. These are the medical missions which include free consultations, dental and medical services, awarding of free medicines, among others.
According to him, the city has likewise hired 130 registered nurses that were deployed in its 35 barangays assist in health programs.
“We are the only city in the whole country that embraced this action” said Mayor Rodriguez.
He also lauded the parents of the beneficiaries, encouraging them to be more patient and caring for their children.
“Our children are jewels. We launched this feeding program to ensure their health and their education. They are the future of this city and our country” he ended.
Health programs are under the city’s eight point agenda which includes “Beinte kwatro oras, sa sakit walang atras”.
