CLARK FREEPORT—The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will host the third in its series of conferences on “Gearing Up for External Competitiveness” on 27 July 2010, Tuesday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ballrooms Acacia and Mahogany of Holiday Inn here.
The conference aims to raise the awareness of exporters, importers, organizations of Overseas Filipinos (OFs), business process outsourcing firms (BPOs), and other entities with foreign exchange dealings and obligations, on the various ways to manage their foreign exchange risks, and highlight the factors that impact on the country’s external competitiveness.
The event will provide an opportunity for participants from the business sector, the banking community, the academe, and government agencies in Pampanga and nearby provinces to discuss issues that impact on the country’s external competitiveness. Resource speakers for the conference will come from the academe, a multilateral organization, the banking sector and the BSP.
Topics that will be covered include: the overview of the country’s competitiveness landscape; selected country experiences on determinants of external competitiveness; the strategies for managing foreign exchange risks; the BSP’s regulations on hedging; and measures and reforms to enhance the competitiveness of Filipino exporters.
The first and second of the series of conferences were held at the BSP Complex in Manila on 7 May 2010 and at the Marriott Hotel in Cebu City on 25 June 2010. The participants consisted of representatives from exporters and importers organizations, government agencies, the academe, media and BSP officials.
