MEDIA ADVISORY

The Department of Science and Technology and the Provincial Government of Bulacan will be holding the 2010 Joint National Capital Region and Central Luzon Invention Contest and Exhibits in the region.

Spearheaded by the DOST regional offices in Region III and NCR, under the auspices of the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI), the event will highlight the search for regional representatives to the National Invention Contest to be held in November.

It will feature discussion fora where stakeholders can exchange ideas and insights to create awareness and encourage the growth of innovative endeavors in the field of inventions. Among the topics to be discussed are the Intellectual Property Law, financial assistance extended by government banks to inventors and DOST assistance to inventors.

Themed, FILIPINO INVENTIIONS AND INNOVATIONS, THE WAY FORWARD, this is the third leg of the nationwide search which aims to showcase the talent of local inventors as well as foster interest in creative research among students.

Entries to the invention contest will compete in the following categories: TUKLAS Award (Outstanding Invention); Outstanding Utility Model; Outstanding Industrial Design; LIKHA Award (Outstanding Creative Research); and SIBOL Award (Outstanding Student Creative Research for High School and College Levels.

All the project entries will be on public display during the event.

The 3-day event will be held at the Bulacan Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, Malolos City on August 24-26, 2010.

August 24 – Opening Ceremonies

August 25 – Judging of Contest Entries / Discussion Fora

9:00 A.M. Financial Assistance of Government Financing Institutions to Inventors

3:00 P.M. Salient Features of the Intellectual Property Law

August 26 – Awarding and Closing Ceremonies (1:00 P.M.)

Entrance to the fora, contest and exhibit is free.
