Pineda brings relief goods to Arayat landslide victims

ARAYAT, Pampanga—True to her promise, Pampanga Governor Lilia G. Pineda revisited the landslide affected families in their makeshift shelters in barangay San Juan Baño in Arayat town last week and brought them much-needed relief goods and assistance.

Exactly eight days after she promised to do so when she first visited them last July 14, Pineda kept her word to the 270 families who were severely affected in the landslide which occurred at the height of typhoon Ondoy in September last year.

The Governor was joined by Provincial Board Members Monz Laus, Trina Dizon, Cris Garbo, Raul Macalino and Joel Simpauco, local municipal and barangay officials.

Assorted relief goods were distributed to the almost one thousand individuals in the area who visibly appreciated the Governor’s concern for their health and welfare.

Pineda instructed the provincial engineer’s office led by Engr. Armando Austria to speed up the provision of temporary shelters at the proposed relocation area for the said landslide victims.

They have been living in makeshift shelters for months now, and with the onset of rainy season, the Governor is very much worried that their exposure to the bad weather would adversely affect their health conditions, especially the young children.

Aside from relief goods, a total of 500 bowls of lugaw provided by Mayor Annette Balgan of Macabebe town were distributed to the families.

In related developments, Pineda also instructed the vice-mayors of the various municipalities in the province to prioritize the provision of health and social services to their respective constituents.

“Let’s make the delivery of effective health services to our municipalities as one of our priorities,” the Governor encouraged the local municipal officials in the latter’s courtesy call at the provincial capitol. (Pampanga PIO)
