Successful CLASSIC hosting lauded
By Raymond C. Garcia
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO --- As the curtains were rolled down on the recent Central Luzon Amateur Schools Sports Invitational Championship (CLASSIC), University of the Assumption Sports Director May Flores expressed her delight over the tournament’s outcome.
Flores, who was the brain behind the birth of CLASSIC said: “This year, the organizers would like to extend their appreciation to the outcome of the third of CLASSIC.”
“With this recent season, no participating went home zero. Lahat po ng mga sumali sa lahat ng mga kompetisyon ay may pinagwagiang premyo,” Flores said.
She also said that this only showed that every school and team that participated in the said competition prepared as what was revealed through a balanced competition among the participating teams.
“Scattered yung mga winners and walang team na nagdominate. This only showed na tumaas na ang level of competition dito sa ating region,” said Flores.
In basketball men, Bulacan State University (BSU) emerged as this season’s champion while Tarlac State University (TSU), UA, and Holy Angel University (HAU) finished second third and fourth, respectively.
In the women’s division, TSU brought home the championship trophy at the expense of runner up HAU. UA placed third.
The basketball juniors division was dominated by Infant Jesus Learning Center under the tutelage of coach PJ del Rosario, son of former Pampanga Dragons head coach Aric del Rosario. UA finished second while HAU placed third.
Meanwhile, in volleyball men’s division, UA capped the tournament at the expense of BSU, the reigning (State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association) SCUAA champions. HAU finished third while Pampanga Agricultural College (PAC) finished fourth.
In the women’s division, HAU placed first while UA and BSU finished second and third respectively.
