OVER COFFEE
By Joey Pavia
=== At the end of the day, a loving father and good friend are all you need===
“THE old man is ‘down but not out.’ Your own father may have given you everything you need but my dad has taught me to just to be 'me' when I write – and it worked, giving me enough confidence to start writing news articles.”
“Don’t try to be like Vergel Santos, Bong Lacson, Blas Ople, Red Smith or Ernest Hemingway when you write. Write as Joey Pavia. But you will never make it if you are lazy and do not read a lot. By the way, watch what you read.”
“Working hard is the key. Aim for excellence when you report.”
“Invest on a book. Always buy a magazine or a newspaper. The Economist is good reading material, especially for reporters.”
“Father wants a big cabinet -- not for money but books. I want to have his books than his money. He knows I have to read more before I can finally claim I am a journalist. But then again, what's important is we have to learn to respect our fellow men—talent, wealth, power and ‘positions’ are all temporary. At the end of the day, a loving
father and good friend are all you need.”
Stuffs I have recently written in my Facebook account. I have improved them for better understanding.
Yes, the mentor-dad just survived two operations on the head. No worries, he is on his way to recovery. But prayers are still a must.
When was the time you had given quality time to dad? Drop everything and visit him. The next lessons you may hear from own Father can solve the puzzle of life.
“Respect and love your mom regardless of....”
“COPY.”
Congratulations, you have passed the test on fatherhood 101. How did you pass with flying colors? Tell me next time Over Coffee.

The traffic condition in Angeles City improved a lot. Good, Mayor Ed Pamintuan and Colonel Paulo. But it could be improved more—even more. Limit those parking areas near the Holy Angel Parish Church, notably the ones near the Holy Angel University. The road at the back of the church is too narrow and it’s not wise to let cars use it as
parking area.
I know the public drivers are voters and officials should take care of them no matter what. But many times, they need a dose of “tough love” in order to achieve harmony and comfort in the whole city.
By the way, those truck drivers should be given “no love at all” for using the road as if they own it. How many lives had been lost courtesy of speeding big trucks?
