Boking donates P250-T for ‘Ondoy’ victims

MABALACAT, Pampanga -- Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales recently donated P250,000 to the victims of typhoon Ondoy.
Morales gave the amount to the officers of the Angeles City Culiat Jaycees (ACCJI) in simple ceremonies at the Cafe Mesa inside the Clark Freeport Zone. The donation fulfilled his pledge during a two-day telethon started by Secretary Edgardo Pamintuan to assist countless flood victims in the country.
“Ang bayan po ng Mabalacat ay nakikiisa at handang tumulong sa ating mga kababayan na nasalanta ng bagyo. At kung ano pa po ang maitutulong namin, maari lamang pong ipagbigay alam sa akin at sa aming munisipyo,” said Morales.
Morales also solicited the support of Mabalacat businessmen like Willy Tan, president of Hausland Housing Development, and Jumbo Jenra who donated P100,000 each. Morales added P50,000.
Morales said that the Mabalaquenos are ready to “extend a helping hand to the flood victims in these times of crisis.”
“Ang mga residente po ng Mabalacat ay handang tumulong ano mang oras,” said Morales noting that during the Mount Pinatubo crisis most of the residents joined their hands together to rise up from the devastations of the eruptions and the lahar flows.
The two-day telethon raised several millions of pesos and the Jaycee members are expected to start packing more goods for shipment to Metro Manila flood victims.
Pamintuan, chairman of the Subic-Clark Alliance and Development Council (SCADC) and one of those who initiated the project, urged other groups and individuals “to set aside politics and donate to the worthy cause.”
