P1-B Ayala mall creates 5,000 jobs

ANGELES CITY --- Some 5,000 jobs have been generated by the opening of Ayala Land Inc. (ALI)’s first-ever mall in Central Luzon, the Marquee mall here.
Marivic Anonuevo, ALI vice president and head of the Ayala Malls Group, said that the mall accommodates more than 5,000 jobs for residents of Angeles City and other nearby towns in Central Luzon , for its 450 stores and restaurants.
Marquee mall, a three-storey commercial establishment was opened to the public September 23.
Anonuevo said ALI invested more than P1 billion for the mall, which complemented a nearby residential complex under its property development group.
About 60 percent of the mall tenants have opened their shops in time for the grand opening that was attended by ALI’s top brass, including members of the Zobel de Ayala clan.
Anonuevo said ALI considered the increased commercial operation of Clark and Angeles City in establishing Marquee Mall.
She said the increase international flights at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) and the operation of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) convinced the company to put up a mall in the presidential region.
Meanwhile, the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) announced that at least 14 firms based here have a total of 3,255 job openings which they intend to fill up within the next three months.
In a report to CDC President Benigno N. Ricafort, Assistant Vice President for Business Development Group Bernardo Angeles, Jr. said most of the job positions that are available here are for customer service representatives and call center agents.
Angeles said officials of the Clark firms have announced that they have scheduled a jobs fair at the SM City Clark event center on Sept. 30 in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Pampanga Employment Services Federation, and SM City Clark.
He said that NCO Philippines and Sutherland Philippines are hiring 1,000 customer representatives each.
Other firms looking for applicants are Cyber City Teleservices, 500 customer services agents; 320 apprentices and 300 engineers and production staffers (regular positions) at Texas Instrument Philippines; 50 customer services agents at UPS Clark Philippines; 41 production staff positions at Apex Intec Philippines, C. Ltd. Inc; 25 casino managers, supervisors and staff at Hotel Stotsenberg; 10 administrative staffers and engineers; nine cutters and other positions at O&G Leather Manufacturing Inc.
The Clark Freeport now has a total of 55,500 workers compared to only about 20,000 during the time of the United States Air Force up to 2001.
Assisting in the jobs fair are Jhoy Santiago of SMK Electronics Philippines ; Sharon Ray Sagansay of WALLEM Innovative Solutions Phils. Inc.; Raides Garcia and Timothy dela Cruz of Yokohama Tires Philippines; Glenda Cerdenola of Fontana Development Corp.; and Christian Mesina of Global Standard Learning Center, Inc.
