UA spikers rout SCUAA champs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO --- It always feels good going up against champions, but it feels best beating them.
This holds true as the University of the Assumption (UA) Men’s volleyball team battled and toppled the reigning State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUUA) men’s volleyball champions, Bulacan State University (BSU), over the weekend.
The win also helped UA register its third in three outings, keeping its place on top of the team standings in the on-going Central Luzon Amateur Schools Sports Invitational Championship at the Archbishop Emilio Cinense Gymnasium, this city.
UA, under the tutelage of head coach Daniel Enriquez, seemed to be too much for BSU after winning against the reigning SCUUA champions in three straight UA dominated sets before a half-packed UA gymnasium.
Meanwhile, UA Sports Director May Flores said, Enriquez was once a part of the BSU Men’s volleyball team before transferring to the Blue Pelicans camp few months ago.
Flores also said that Enriquez was also instrumental for his contributions in making BSU the reigning SCUUA champions.
With its new breed of young and talented players coming from the different schools inside as well as outside the province, Flores remains confident that her Men’s volleyball team will work hard to get their target.
UA’s complete line-up includes Lawrence Christopher Alipio, John Paul Caysido, Lawrence Gabatino, Marlon Macabulos, Aldrin Ken Manuel, Josell Pena, Francis Pineda, Gerald Pineda, Edward Verdillo, Marc Elmo Vitug, Gilbert Fernando, Fiel Sawal, Gyle Sawal, among others.
Head Coach is Enriquez. Assistant Coach is Jeffrey Culala.
