Make no mistake about it: a wild African setting that reminds us of safari comes in an appetitive place called Congo Grille. The cuisine, however, are unmistakably Filipino with familiar dishes like sinigang na ulo ng salmon sa miso, nilagang bulalo, halaan soup soothing enough for any type of events and season. But Congo Grille’s hottest plates can also be found on the grilled foods—rich ‘umami’ taste sizzling for both red and white meat dishes like tuna belly, pork barbecue, inihaw na liempo and barbecue chicken.
Local culinary taste is still apparent and Kapampangans will be happy to note that Congo Grille features the culinary capital’s “gem” in the form of “sisig”. In fact, Congo Grille has been tagged as “The Sisig King” after it bested all restaurants on a “sisig” fest in Pampanga. Because of this, Congo Grille as well celebrates the good food known to Kapampangans showing through in their menu, chicken “sisig” and notably, a Kapampangan “sisig”. To date, Congo Grille is available in one of Pampanga’s top malls— SM City Clark!
Started in 1999, Congo Grille already has its fast-paced growth by starting to franchise all over Metro Manila and even in the nearby provinces like Nueva Ecija and Pampanga. Carla Villanueva, Marketing Manager of Congo Grille said, “And even as we expand via franchising, we are emplacing systems that will ensure that the standards of service that we have built over the years will be maintained in all new franchised restaurants.”
In December this year, Congo Grille will open its latest provincial franchise in Cabanatuan City. Its first franchise however is located in Metro Manila on 2009 at Araneta Center. Overseas are also seen on the marketing plan and no other exciting place to cater the Philippine taste bud other than the United States.
Congo Grille, with its refreshing interior, also boast of its good service, devoted to giving out the equally good food. And because it never looks intimidating, customers come in different forms—family, friends, or even couple. Both young and old can also dine in since the foods are fits for anyone. A mascot is also ready to fun with the young ones and young at heart—a comedic ape in safari outfit.
Congo Grille also participates on charity works which is a great way for corporate social responsibility. And since they are into food industry, most of their programs are related to feeding to connect with other groups determined to help children in Valenzuela and Quezon City. Collectibles and toys were also included.
